早喺18世紀，法國當時嘅皇帝路易十五委任珠寶技師設計一款要似佢情婦嘴唇嘅鑽石切割，而呢個就係欖尖形鑽石嘅最早來源。

雖然欖尖形原先係一種鑽石切割，後來佢亦被廣泛應用於其他寶石上面。

同梨形切割相近，佩戴欖尖形鑽石有助手指顯得纖瘦。

What is the origin of Marquise diamond?

In the 18th century, King Louis XV at the time commissioned jewellery technicians to design a diamond cut resembling his mistress’s lips. This is the earliest origin of Marquise diamond.

Although it was first designed to be a diamond cut,  Marquise gradually made its way into other gemstones.

Similar to Pear cut, wearing Marquise cut diamond helps at making fingers look long and slender.
